FreedomBank Supports Local Food Security with $2,100 Donation, Celebrating Growth in Community Resources

Food insecurity remains a real challenge for families across Northeast Iowa, with recent data showing that hundreds of our neighbors still struggle to put healthy meals on the table.

FreedomBank is committed to helping tackle this issue. This fall, we contributed $2,100 to three local food pantries - the Clayton County Food Shelf, the Allamakee County Food Shelf, and Postville Food Pantry - to support their work feeding individuals and families in need. These funds have gone toward essentials like milk, eggs, and other nutritious items through the Northeast Iowa Food Bank network.

Adding to that good news, the Postville Food Pantry recently moved into a larger building in town. The expanded space comes as the pantry outgrew its previous location and community partners stepped up to make the move possible. Volunteers and leaders say the new site not only offers more room but also brings renewed energy and longer-term stability for the neighbors who rely on its services. https://www.kcrg.com/2025/11/11/postville-food-pantry-expands-into-new-space-various-factors-shape-demand/

Our region’s food pantries play a vital role in supporting children, working families, seniors, and others who might otherwise go without enough to eat. Whether through financial gifts, donated food, or time spent volunteering, every contribution helps strengthen that safety net.
